Pichet Ong's Spot - Revisited

Tiffany, from FineChinaGirl, and I headed over to Spot Dessert Bar on 13 St. Marks Place in East Village. This is the first time she has been here and wanted to go due to yours truly. The sign has changed since I've been there but regardless of the color, I still love you Spot.

The sign outside to draw in a passerby.

My passion fruit belini was non-alcoholic. The top part was some passion fruit fizzy thing that was fun to drink.
Tiffany ordered the spiced hot chocolate, which I will have to get next time. It reminded me Mexican hot chocolate, which I love.

The seasonal tapas that Tiffany ordered: Jackfruit cake with basil seed, rum toffee and coconut. I had this last time and it tasted just as good as the previous time.

The seasonal tapas that I ordered: Ovaltine roll with chocolate, rice krispies and Japanese pumpkin. This was our favorite dish. The different layers of chocolate offered a unique blend of texture and taste.

Starting from the cupcake and going clockwise: Vanilla almond coconut cupcake, Chinese walnut cookie, valrhona chocolate brownie and nutella coconut almond macaroon.

My most to least favorite out of these four was Chinese walnut cookie, vanilla almond coconut cupcake, nutella coconut almond macaroon and the chocolate brownie.

The valrhona chocolate brownie had a really intense chocolate flavor with a hint of spice. Our waiter explained that it was made with a foreign chocolate, which was why it tasted so different. Tiffany and I agreed that the next time we went to Spot, we will not order the brownie.

The other items were up to its usual par of delicious. The vanilla almond coconut cupcake was flavorful and moist. I usually do not like frosting but a bit of it tasted great with the cake. The Chinese walnut cookie was a hit with me last time and this time was no exception. The nutella coconut almond macaroon was a perfect creation of coconut, chocolate and almond flakes.

I enjoyed my visit and will reiterate: I love Spot and think it's a perfect place to enjoy dessert. Tiffany didn't enjoy it as much and you can view her experience here.

And I am so happy that you finally got this post up! And I totally agree with you again that we will not get the brownie. It was dry and bitter and spicy. I like my brownies warm and soft like its going to fall off mm!! I will try ur brownie recipe soon, but add walnuts!!
