Not My Grandma's Homemade Banana Pudding

Through some random internet searches, I came across My Wooden Spoon and her Grandma's Homemade Banana Pudding recipe. The 'Grandma' in the title reeled me in. A grandma's recipe is practically no-fail and everyone knows that grandmothers are the best cooks so this was a must-try.

 INGREDIENTS:

    1 heaping  tbsp. flour
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    2 cups milk
    butter
    vanilla
vanilla wafers (save some to crumble for the top)
    bananas (make sure they're ripe)

DIRECTIONS:
  1. In a saucepan, mix flour and sugar then add eggs and mix well.
  2. Start your burner and slowly add milk; a little at a time stirring constantly. Continue stirring until it has thickened.
  3. After thickened, add butter and vanilla to taste. Probably 1 tbsp of butter. Be careful not to add too much vanilla or it will taste almost chocolatey.  Maybe 1/4 tsp?? Again, not sure. Just taste it.
  4. Layer your wafer cookies and bananas for a pretty presentation.
  5. Refrigerate overnight or until cold.
Flour, sugar and eggs.

Slowly stir and keep a sharp eye on it because it will suddenly thicken.

Almost forgot to add butter and vanilla.

It looks about done.

Waiting for the pudding portion.

All done!

Grandma's Homemade Banana Pudding is definitely a keeper of  a recipe. It's delicious, easy and very quick to make. My family loved it and gobbled everything within two days. Next time I will have to double or triple the recipe so that it can be shared with friends.

A word of warning: Carefully watch it when you're waiting for it to thicken because with a blink of an eye, it was ready. I was worried that the pudding was burned but thankfully that didn't happen.
